My Current RFP on Guru.com: Will they accept this type of proposal?
Dear Sir or Madam,
In the spirit of full and accurate representation of myself, I am presenting myself as a hobbyist interested in finding financing for supporting the arts. I am writing to ask if the RFP I am writing below is acceptable under your terms of use. This is a proof of concept for operationalizing a term called a “MicroGrant”. For any blog posts, may I mention Guru.com? And would you consider putting an ad on my page? If it works, I would be happy to share credit. Properly marketed, it could be a big revenue stream for you.
I offer this idea in that I do not have the infrastructure to support the potential and I am mainly doing this as a hobby in hopes for support and an audience to realize some really cool ideas. Please let me know if you would like to hear more or kept aprised of my progress in this project.
Anyway, below is the text of my RPP. Please let me know if this is within your terms of use.
Text of proposed RFP as follows:
RFP: Seeking Artists to Submit Proposal for piece of Robot in the Woods Art
Note: Guru.com has not endorsed the content, but they have agreed that it is within their terms of use.
This is an RFP I want all artists to respond. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you pooled a group of artists together to render drawings of their vision of a single phrase. And then, to crowd-source a self-published book? And have it successfully marketed to promote wide exposure to your work? The phrase is this: Robot in the Woods. You can find more information at http://www.robotinthewoods.com. It’ll be fun!
This website is a portfolio development and commissioning site for science robot lovers while employing a ‘proof of concept’ economic model called a “Microgrant.” There a few sites that are already doing this. The art site http://cadreart.org/ which could be done more effectively, but has collected more money than me, so who I am to complain. Then Cadreart mentions two others, which are admittedly are much less frivolous than Robot in the Woods. Those sites: http://www.100friends.com/ and http://www.modestneeds.org/.
My RFP is for you to take as little time/energy, and have as much fun, as possible, to develop a proposal for how you would prepare Robot in the Woods. The only requirements are:
1. Robot
2. Woods/Forest/Jungle/Any nature setting
3. A RoboCode
4. The phrase “Robot in the Woods”
5. Artistically, it should tell a story about Robot in the Woods
Other than that, all I want to see a short proposal for all interpretation of Robot in the Woods, in as many styles, from as many artists, from as many ages, from as many countries and in any medium possible. I am particularly interested in self-representing artists and student artists. And of course, people who think they can draw really cool Robots. Please include a small note about yourself and your style and a work sample so that I can post it along with your proposal on my crowdsourced artist commissioning site.
Tracking of MicroGranted proposals will be accomplished using PayPal’s ChipIn. Robot in the Woods version 2.0 version will have a more robust commission tracking system. Once your commission goal is reached, then I will pay you using www.guru.com (and none of its competitors).
My preference is a work for hire scenario. I need quotes for producing 2 images of Robot in the Woods. One I describe to you and one of your vision. Factor into your costs in that I am preparing a book proposal and hope to have exclusive use of these images for publication.
To summarize the RFP
1. A proposal for your vision of Robot in the Woods
2. Agreement that I can post your proposal on my blog, prepare a PayPal ChipIn to track your commission and use www.guru.com to pay you when your commissioning goal is reached.
3. Work for hire
5. Exclusive use for possible publication
4. Second Image for Robot in the Woods wearable art (t-shirt)
5. Factor above into your commissioning costs
6. Think of this a really fun project and social internet experiment that may just be successful for everyone
